John Nicholson Paintings for Sale

A PSPS member has recently inherited a fine collection of John’s paintings and is willing to sell a number of them through the Society, the income being equally divided between Waverley and Kingswear Castle.

This represents a rare change for to acquire a scarce and beautiful Nicholson watercolour and support our two ships at the same time.

The late John Nicholson (1921-2004) was a fine marine and landscape artist who had an abiding love for paddle steamers and coastal passenger ships. He received commissions from Calmac and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company to paint the ships in their fleets, and his wonderful watercolour ship portraits were much sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. At least three books of his paintings were published and he generously contributed art work to Waverley on a regular basis.
