Waverley has now returned to Glasgow following her annual dry docking and survey at Garvel Dry Dock in Greenock. She was re-floated on Friday 12th May before undertaking sea trials on Monday 15th May.
Fortunately during Waverley's two week stay in Garvel there was a period of good weather allowing for much cosmetic work to be carried out in addition to the various other work required to keep her in fine form. This year the starboard spring beam (the large piece of wood on the outside of the paddle box and makes contact when berthing) was replaced, the previous one was found to be cracked at the end of last season. The spring beam is made from greenheart timber which is very durable. The PSPS has agreed to fund the cost and installation of the new spring beam.
Cameron Shaw has kindly shared his pictures of Waverley leaving Garvel and arriving back in Glasgow where final preparations are now underway before she enters service on Friday 26th May.
